Baccarat Rules
With nothing to do each hand asides from laying a bet on a tie, the bankers or players hand, the game is effortless to play. The dealer controls the cards, and there are no choices to be made after betting. .
Players can put money on a tie, on the bankers hand or the players hand to win, with the winning hand being closest to a total of 9 as possible.
Unlike Blackjack, you cannot “bust”. Baccarat is played “modulo 10″, if a total goes over ten you subtract 10 from the count so the total is between 0 and 9.
The player initially chooses where to bet. After the bets are finished everybody is given out two cards to start with.
When the player or bankers hand is an 8 or 9, they have a natural and no one receives any extra cards. Should both the banker and player have a Natural, then it is a tie.
If there isn’t any ‘natural’ dealt with the two initial cards, the subsequent rules decide what takes place:
First the player is dealt with.
| Players Hand: | Players Required Action: |
| 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 | Takes a third card |
| 6 or 7 | No further cards |
After the players turn is complete, what happens next depends on the players hand.
| The Bankers Required Action: | ||
| 0, 1 or 2 | Irrelevant | Takes a card |
| 3 | 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 | Draw a card |
| 8 | Stays | |
| 9 | No further cards | |
| 4 | 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 | Draws a card |
| 0, 1, 8 or 9 | No further cards | |
| 5 | 5, 6 or 7 | Takes a card |
| 0, 1, 2, 3, 8 or 9 | Stays | |
| 4 | Draw a card | |
| 6 | 6 or 7 | Draws a card |
| 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 or 9 | Stays | |
| 7 | Anything | Stay |
When the cards are all dealt, a comparison among the two hands is made and the hand valued closer to 9 wins the round.
