Because betting is so important to the game it is important to understand the wagers and your likelihood of winning.

Types of bets and winning percentages:

The Pass Bet
This bet is for the shooter to throw a 7 or 11 on the come-out roll or, failing this to throw the Point before rolling a 7. The chance of throwing a 7 of 11 and winning is 22.2%. After establishing a Point you have an 8 - 14% chance of winning (depending on the Point).

The Don't Pass Bet
This bet wins if the shooter throws a 2 or 3 on the come-out roll (rolling 12 ties) or, failing this to throw a 7 before the Point. The chance of winning on the come-out roll is 8.3%. If the Point is established the chance of winning increases to 16.7%.

The Come Bet
This bet is the same as the Pass bet but is made after the Point has been made. The odds remain the same as for a Pass bet.

The Don't Come Bet
This bet is the same as the Don't Pass bet but is made after the Point has been made. The odds remain the same as for a Don't Pass bet.

Odds Bet
This bet is an additional wager made after the point has been established. The odds depend on the Point (4 & 10 odds are 8.3%, 5 & 9 odds are 11.1%, 6 & 8 odds are 13.9%).

Win Bet
You are betting that the number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 11) wagered on will come up before a 7 is rolled. Odds on winning are 8.3% for 4 & 10, 11.1% for 5 & 9 and 13.9% for 6 & 8 against 16.7% that a 7 will be rolled.

Lose Bet
This bet is that a 7 will be rolled before the number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 11) wagered on will come up. Odds on winning are 16.7% that a 7 will be rolled against 8.3% for 4 & 10, 11.1% for 5 & 9 and 13.9% for 6 & 8.

Field Bet
This bet is for the next roll to be 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12. The odds of winning are 44.4% and those of losing 55.6%.

Hardways Bet
This bet is made on 4, 6, 8 or 10. You win if the relevant number is made with two identical numbers before a 7 is thrown or the relevant number is thrown in any other combination. The odds of winning are 2.8%, and those of losing are 22.2% for 4 or 10 and 27.8% for 6 or 8.

Any Seven Bet
You are betting that the next throw will be a 7. The odds of winning are 16.7% against odds of 83.3% you lose.

Any Craps
This bet is that the next throw will result in a 2, 3 or 12. the odds of winning are 11.1% and of losing 88.9%.

Two, Three, Eleven and Twelve Bets
You are betting that the next roll will be the one you select (2, 3, 11 or 12). The odds of winning when 2 or 12 are selected are 2.8% against 97.2% that you will lose. When 3 or 11 are selected the odds of winning are 5.6% against 94.4% that you will lose.

Horn Bet (sometime called Craps-Eleven)
This bet involves betting on four numbers (2, 3, 11 and 12) and one being rolled on the next toss. The odds of winning with a 2 or 12 are 2.8% against 97.2% that you will lose, while the odds of winning with a 3 or 11 are 5.6% against 94.4% that you will lose. Keep in mind that even if you win with one number you still lose the other three bets.
